I am a long time user of dropbox. since your pricing and storage changes a couple of years ago I have been looking for alternatives to cold storage that are forcing my hand to move elsewhere. It would be a dream if dropbox offered COLD STORAGE options that were built into your system. I could then slect vast amounts of storage, and pay for it, that are cold. Otherwise I now move that same data to AWS S3 glacier storage and pay them $100 a month to archive it for me. Their system is not as user friendly but the alternative being over $500 a moth for the same data with dropbox in its current state is just not doable. Offer cold storage and I'll continue to be a loyal customer.
Click on a folder and select - move to cold storage - once it is there the icon looks different and I am billed on the amount of cold storage I am using. it is no longer counting to my regular storage. Being cold it takes longer to access, I am fine with a week or even 2 if necessary but I don't want it lost.
