It would be very useful to have a feature that allows users to search for all folders shared with a specific person.
Many Dropbox users (like myself) have hundreds of shared folders with dozens of collaborators. Currently, if I want to find all folders that a particular user has access to, there appears to be no way to do this. The only option is to manually review each shared folder and check its permissions individually, which is time-consuming and impractical.
I would like to see a feature where I can enter a user's name or email address and view a list of all folders that are currently shared with that person. This would make permission management, auditing, and access reviews much easier, especially for users who manage large numbers of shared folders and collaborators.
Possible implementation:
- Add a "Search by user" option within Shared Folders.
- Allow searching by name or email address.
- Display all folders to which the selected user currently has access.
- Optionally allow bulk management of permissions from the results page.
This would significantly improve administration of shared folders and help users maintain better control over access permissions.
I am really very surprised that this feature does not exist and I do not know how people manage access permissions across a variety of projects.
I imagine this feature would be particularly valuable for businesses, charities, schools, and power users who manage large numbers of shared folders.
