Wow! You've done some incredible research here. I've been experiencing seemingly the same issue, except with only 1,545 files. Mine has been stuck there for months. I've tried everything in your original list, and also contacting Dropbox Support — All to no avail.
I'm going to try your latter suggestions, and I'll get back here with results.
What slays me is that Dropbox Support was of absolutely no assistance whatsoever. There help ended with a few basic suggestions I had already tried previously. It's not at all like they opened an actual ticket and continued working on it, an obvious glitch or glitches, until it was fixed.
And your original post was in Dec. of 2025 — And it still hasn't been fixed? I'm thinking, "Why are we paying them so much money?"
And don't get me started on trying to recover files from a backup. This software appears to be totally worthless when it comes to that — one of the main reasons why I was using them instead of one of the other major players' products. When I tried it, all I got was a zip file containing the files I was intending to restore. If the files still existed on my local hard drive, then I would have to go through the unzipped files and try to discover which was the more recent version or the version I wanted to keep, and then manually select each one (or group) and copy them over to the proper location on the hard drive. Manually! Hundreds of files! What a ridiculous waste of time.
Hey @dpbrick, thanks for posting to our Community.
Even though you posted in a very related thread, it was a bit old, so I moved your comment to a new thread of its own. The thread is linked at the top of the page, so you can easily find it.
Indexing issues may happen for many different reasons and the app has had lots of updates ever since that thread was last commented on.
However, I'm sorry to see that you haven't had a great experience with both the Dropbox app and the support you got for this issue.
Would you mind giving me the ticket number for your communication with our support team, so I can take a look?
And please do update us with the results of the suggestions in the previous thread.
Thanks in advance!
