I could be unknowing of a way to solve this problem but when I'm ready to share a folder, I always find it very inconvenient to have to click more than twice to get my hands on the "view" link instead of the "edit link" !
If there were a feature in the Dropbox settings that allowed users to set the link button for all of their newly created folders to copy the "edit" or "view" link automatically, that'd make general workflow all the much easier.
So instead of clicking the link/chain icon just to go from - Manage > Link for viewing > Create link > Copy link - users could have it set to "view" from default and have every new link be a 'view' instead of an 'edit' link.
