Many companies prohibit employees from generating their own Dropbox account, which is needed to comment on the files. So I'd love to have a way for people to put their email and just add comments to files and folders I've shared with them via a link
Hi @phjsw, thanks for sharing this idea. We’ve looked into this a few times, and currently recipients can view a standard Dropbox shared link without an account, but they do need to sign in or create an account to post a comment.
This isn’t something we have plans to change right now, as it hasn’t been heavily requested by the community. That said, we’d encourage anyone who’d like to see a guest commenting feature like this to let us know and share their use cases below.
One possible workaround that may fit your workflow is to share a Dropbox file or folder with someone who doesn’t have a Dropbox account, then collect the feedback by email or messaging instead.
Thanks @Keith for getting back to me. I understand that this seems to be a niche problem, however I've heard that multiple times from colleagues as well. For me that's the sole reason I'm also using frame.io, as it allows me to get timestamped or file by file comments or ratings from clients, without them having to login. I'd love to have all my files and my feedback in one place.
