Please can file names update to reflect the new file added to the version stack, manually having to update the file name is time consuming and open to errors.
Please replicate what frame.io do - it's so much more logical
Yes, 100% agree. Would be a great QoL improvement.
This would be amazing!
Agree, I find this very confusing.
Great suggestion! I've always wondered why it doesn't automatically change
Hi @EmilyGTransmission, welcome to the Dropbox Community, and thanks for the idea.
There already seems to be some wider support for this one, so we’re happy to open it up to the rest of the community for voting.
If this is something you’d like to see too, give it an upvote and share any specific workflow requirements or examples in the comments.
Thank you @Keith! As an editor I update the file name of each of my new video exports with a new version number, but this doesn't show for anyone reviewing the latest file on Replay unless I update it manually after adding a new version. If I don't remember to update the file name it looks like I've sent an old file for review, because the name has not updated, which is not the case and can be confusing for all involved.
Yes please! This would help loads
Oh my god yes! Please do this!
@Keith I also can't find a way to send a direct link to an older version in a stack, for example this morning my client wanted to discuss a SFX we used in an older edit, and I wanted to send a direct link to that version, but every link opens up the latest version - not showing the original file names next to the version numbers also makes it very confusing to keep track of files.
Even when I download an older version from the stack it renames the file with the latest file name and just puts the stack version number at the end. We need our original file names to be retained and trackable to each file please. In this screenshot I downloaded file V4 but it's named it V14_V4
Definitely something that's needed to refine the workflows.
I agree. The naming of the files is very confusing, life would be much easier if we could track the original names.
100% agree, the current process is not as smooth as Frame.io
Yeah, hopefully it's a quick fix, but would definitely help prevent confusion and help teams track assets as they're updated. Let us know what you think Keith.
@EmilyGTransmission the Replay team would love to jump on a call to understand a bit more about your use case, would you be up for that? If so, is it ok for me to connect you with the team via the email associated with your community profile?
Yes of course!
Great, thanks @EmilyGTransmission the team will be in touch soon.
