The Problem:When uploading multiple files via the web browser interface, users currently have no way to set a custom order or prioritize which file gets uploaded first in the queue.
Real-Life Context & Use Case:As a filmmaker and long-time Dropbox user of 15 years, sending heavy footage directly through the browser is a regular part of my workflow. When uploading a batch of multiple files or a large folder package, Dropbox automatically queues them in a default system order.
However, there is frequently a critical "hero file" (such as a primary edit or a proxy file) that a client or collaborator needs to review immediately. Because there is no way to prioritize or rearrange the queue, we are forced to wait for unrelated files to upload first, or resort to uploading files individually—which defeats the efficiency of batch uploading.
Proposed Solution:Add a simple, intuitive step right before you click "Upload" after selecting files from your computer.
- A lightweight preview screen or drawer could appear allowing users to adjust the upload queue (via drag-and-drop or simple "Move to Top" / priority sorting options).
- Alternatively, a quick sorting toggle (by name, size, or manual drag-and-order) right inside the pre-upload summary batch view would give users total control over their upload bandwidth distribution.
This small addition would save massive amounts of time and frustration for creative professionals, video editors, and anyone handling time-sensitive bulk transfers.
