Why won't Dropbox tell me the names of what files already exist?

Why won't Dropbox tell me the names of what files already exist when uploading? That way I could go to the files, rename them, and upload them. Right now, my only choices are to randomly overwrite some file that could be important or not upload some file that could be important.
