Two‑factor authentication app

Dear Dropbox Team,

I would like to suggest that you create a dedicated two‑factor authentication (2FA) app for both mobile and desktop.

What would make your solution different from existing authenticator apps is the ability to store a secure backup of the 2FA secrets directly inside the user’s own Dropbox account. This backup would be encrypted and safely synced across devices, making it easy to recover access without losing your 2FA codes if you lose your phone.

@Oldowl, thanks for the suggestion. This would be a completely new product rather than a change to an existing Dropbox feature. After discussing this with our developers, I can confirm that there are no plans or bandwidth to implement a 2FA app at this time.

That said, we always appreciate hearing ideas from the community, so please let us know if you have any more ideas.
