Documents are just missing but I didn't delete them

I'm on a Windows PC with a laptop as well as a laptop and iPhone.

I have a lot of documents,

and something has happened where my documents literally have been deleted. I can't find a version control on missing documents.

These are documents I would not have deleted because I use them in knowledge bases in my custom GPTs, and they're still there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know I'm being pretty generic, but I'm at a loss right now.

I have the same issue when I went through events. I know the documents were there because they're saved in other places.

This is rarely, if ever, a result of something wrong with Dropbox. Most likely the files were moved or deleted by another person or process, perhaps even yourself without realizing it.

Provided you can go back far enough in the Events page history, you should see a record of what happened. The only times the Events page won't have that information is if the event happened too long ago to where it has fallen off your available history, or if the files were in a shared folder that you were removed from.

Otherwise if there are no events, the files were not synced to the Dropbox servers.

The other thing about deleted files is it only goes back 30 days.

How long did you last log in to your Dropbox account?

That usually means there is no activity before that date. It usually shows up to 6 months of data even though it isnt recoverable if a free user.

Also, in addition to what Mark is saying.

Can you see ANY files in the account? Are you sure you're logging into the correct account? With Google Account logins, we often see people inadvertently create and log into accounts and not realize what happened.

If you're sure its the correct account. Where are the files missing from? Are they missing from your Windows device but are still on dropbox.com ? Are they missing from both locations?
