I had a personal Dropbox account on this email for several years, containing personal documents. I was later added to a company's Dropbox team for a project. That working relationship has since ended, and I recently received an email on 5/29/2026 saying I was removed from their Dropbox team, which I expected would just remove my access to their shared folders.
Instead, it appears my entire personal account was deleted, not just my access to the team's shared content. While trying to log back in, I hit a login loop and ended up accidentally creating a brand new, empty Dropbox account on the same email address, since it seems the address had been freed up.
I'm not affiliated with that company any longer and I'm not able to go through their admin to sort this out.
What I'm hoping to find out:
- Was my original personal account deleted outright, or deactivated/archived and possibly recoverable?
- Can it be restored, given that a new account now exists on the same email?
- What information do you need from me to verify it's my account (account creation date, old file names/folders, etc.)?
Any guidance on next steps would be really appreciated — this account had years of personal and work files on it.
