After Dropbox for teams trial I received an email about deletion of shared folders

I accepted a trial of a Team Dropbox. Now, that's over and I've decided not to proceed, but I'm being told that 6 of the 10 shared folders are about to be deleted.

The thing is that all of those folders are Owned by someone else (ie they pay for their storage)...is Dropbox going to delete the information from their account, or just remove the access for the Team Dropbox (ie me)?

Hey @OziKris. I understand where this is coming from and want to reassure you that this affects only the folders included in the CSV file on the relevant communication.

The reason you received this email is specifically because the content in question is owned by a deleted team. As a matter of fact, anyone who's impacted should've received or receive a similar notification.

Other than that, when it comes to the rest of the shared folders in one's account, here are the scenarios to keep in mind:

If you're the owner, the content will remain unaffected, unless you or any other member with "can edit" rights makes any changes. As far as the folders are concerned, they'll remain unaffected, unless you remove them permanently from your side.
If you're a member with "can edit" or "can view" access, the owner has the ability to remove your access; should this ever happen, there is no notification triggered.
When it comes to Dropbox Basic (free) users who exceed their storage quota, one needs to be alert of this article.

Having said all that, let me know if you need help creating a copy for any of these folders you may want to keep, or downloading them locally on your device.

Can you first let us know more about the trial you joined? Did someone else invite you to the trial team? Or did you upgrade your own account?

Also, can you please send us a screenshot of the email you received about the deletions?

Just make sure to mask any personal info like emails, names, etc. before sending the screenshot.

I upgraded my own account (which already had the folders shared by others with me).

I'm not too worried about my own information, but I am really worried that the information shared from others will be deleted from their accounts.

Thanks Nancy - the linked article explained what I needed to know.

I have downloaded anything I need to keep, and left shared folders, owned by another person, so that my files return to under the 12GB allowance that I have.

I guess I should never have accepted the 'trial' as everything was completely under control before that. The email didn't explain to me clearly enough what would be the consequences, and what options I have (apart from upgrading my account).
