Recently I was looking for a file and discovered all my files have disappeared except a few created very recently. What can I do to find them and restore to my account. Thanks
Hi from me as well, @Nanavirginnia!
To have a clear image of what may be happening, can you please check your old iPad and let me know if you can see all of your missing files in your Dropbox mobile app there? We’ll look into this further after that.
As for your previous posts on the forum, you can try clicking on the three dots next to the post you wish to delete. Are you able to remove the ones you want that way?
Let me know.

Check your Events page and your Deleted Files.
Thanks tried that
And nothing shows on there at all?
How long ago did you last use the account?
This happened to me last autumn. I had no correspondence regarding their impending deletion. I am the only person affiliated with my account and it was my entire year of tax data & expenses etc saved. There are/were no 'events' and I've cleared my cache/cookies and reinstalled the app on a new device. I've been out of country and have the team looking at it again now. Would it help if you (and I...). purchased a higher level of membership for expedited support? While I wait for a response, I am peeking around here for possible solutions others have found.
Hey @Sandra YVR - sorry to hear about this.
Since you're already in contact with our support team, could you share your ticket ID so that we can look it up in our system as well?
As for your support options, you can have a look here.
While we're at it, please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Hi Walter,It is 24226958. The account with the issue is different than this one (as I see I posed this question from my original account). Sorry for the confusion. The email on the account affiliated with this ticket is also with my name and the email ends in g m a i l . I can send a message on that account to make things more straight forward, but don't want to double-dip with communications, so please advise.
I offered to pay for an account, instead of Basic, for efficient service, but was advised just to wait since the ticket was reactivated. I'm a bit panic'd as it is tax time.
Hey @YVR 25, thanks for the ticket number and additional info.
From what I can see, that particular ticket was closed, however, I do see that you're already in contact with a member of our social media team and they've opened another ticket for you.
So, to avoid having multiple posts and tickets for the same issue which would only lead to confusion, I would suggest continuing with our colleague on that new ticket, to get a faster resolution.
Use it every day
Was never assigned ticket number just told to go directly to community. I have a related problem. Somehow it’s also using another email i have. But i havent used the second email in over a year. I never used the second one ending in tds.com but noticed it use somewhere
Hi Mark. I USE DROPBOX EVERY DAY. I was looking for a file and noticed NONE OF MY PREVIOUS FILES FOR PAST 4 PLUS YEARS were THERE Only files there now are recent ones like in last week. BTW i just noticed all these comments because I’ve never accessed community before. But you seem to be more focused on my problem. I DID NOT DELETE MY FILES. Maybe I need another APP because these files are very important as are everyone’s And i cannot go through this again, AND AS ARE EVERYONE’S THERE IS NO WAY TO RECREATE THEM. After all that’s why we use apps like this one as I definitely depend on my files being there, right. Hopefully you can help me. (How do I get a ticket number since they never gave me one
I can’t possibly reply to everyone but did select MARK so you can look to see what I told him. Thanks all. Hi. I never got ticket number.
I’m saving everything to ms word right now until this is resolved. BTW the email associated with my Dropbox ends in gmail.com
Hey i just looked at my account and this is WEIRD but now files are showing up FROM 6 YEARS AGO, so it says on each file. Does this make sense?
Just noticed I’ve been replying to myself. So here is more information
Hey @Nanavirginnia , you mentioned that you have another Dropbox account under a different email address.
Can you open another web browser or a private browsing window to login to that account and see what you can find there?
Perhaps there's been a mix-up and you'll find your missing files there.
Let me know what you find.
Well great minds and all that—-i just happened to check my other ipad and discovered the files were lagging behind others that did transfer. . Apparently when i recently bought my ipad air m2 and transferred everything to it from my ipad 9 some things did not transfer. DB files happened to be one
so now my question is how do i EASILY send these left behind files to new ipad? I discover every week, other things that didn’t transfer when i did a complete TRANSFER EVERYTHING process. your continued support is appreciated.
Hannah: forget to say: BTW i only have one DB account. I misspoke but i meant i have another DEVICE
CAN YOU HELP me by deleting all the many other similar posts I submitted about this subject, i don’t have a clue HOW. LETS JUST USE THIS THREAD (?) TO CONVERSE
As long as you are using the same account on both you dont need to transfer them - it just happens. Thats the whole point of Dropbox - what is on one device is accessible on the other (note, however, they wont download to the iPad they'll just be on the app).
Did you understand my email 2 days ago? That i found my files on same account on my previous ipad THAT SHOULD HAVE TRANSFERRED when i set up new ipad. Yesterday i upgraded to plus temporarily to make transferring my files from old ipad to new current one Can’t understand why they didn’t transfer when i set up new ipad and transferred everything
I’ve advised you and rich several times that i don’t know how to delete multiple requests for same thing. You can probably do it for me, right?
i only know how to save files to DB. Thanks for your help

When you replace an iPad and you transfer everything to the new one, your Dropbox files do not transfer. This is because the files don't exist on the iPad. The Dropbox app just lets you see the files that are in your account online. Files are not actually stored on the device, unless you mark them as available offline), and even then they wouldn't transfer to a new device. Instead, you would just install the Dropbox app on the new device and sign in with the same account you used on the old device. Everything would be the same if you're using the same account.
Hi Nancy
i have no way to tell if all my files are on my old iPad. But there are a lot showing up
as for deleting the duplicate posts i dont know where to find all my posts on this subject so i can delete them, WHILE KEEPING THE CURRENT post people are replying to

Don't worry about that. There's no need.
If you're missing files from Dropbox, check the "Deleted Files" section for potential recovery options. For a business like partybusrentalsdc.com, this could disrupt operations, so reaching out to Dropbox support may help. Regular backups are crucial to avoid such data loss.
Please mark my post as solved. Everything finally shows up on all devices. Thanks to all who helped me
Thanks for the update, @Nanavirginnia !
I'm glad to hear that.
If you come across any other issues, let us know.
Have a great weekend!
