Dropbox has taken money from my credit card account without authorisation, how do I get it back?

You can use the credit card charge lookup tool to identify the account you're being charged for. Once you've identified the account, you can sign into it if you have access to the email address associated with the account. Reset the password if necessary. A refund likely won't be possible, but you should be able to cancel the subscription. If you can't access the account, contact Support to cancel any future charges.

You'll need to contact Dropbox Support directly. Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
Dropbox cannot charge you if they don't have your billing information. If you've been charged and didn't give them your billing information, then someone else has and you should be contacting your bank.
Hey Mark, yes of course I contacted my bank. My card was compromised and they closed the card and created a fraud report for the various transactions this being one. They have asked me to reach out to dropbox support and tell them this is fraud and ask them to take action to reconcile that transaction as a step prior to reversing the charge themselves. To dropbox support: I have filled out the appropriate contact us form and submitted that as well. Awaiting a reply or email from dropbox support..much appreciated.
Hi @cwsteini, sorry to hear about that!
You mentioned that you've reached out to our Support about this. Can you send me your ticket number, so I can locate it on our system too?
Keep me posted!
Hey Megan, so I don't have a case number. I opened a incognito window and sent the form from https://www.dropbox.com/support/billing-issues

The fraudulent email
My payment details and the transaction details and an explanation with my email to respond to.. and submitted the form.
I am awaiting a reply email.
Hi @cwsteini, sorry to jump in too.
If you check the email address that you inserted when submitting the support request, do you see a ticket number perhaps? Please make sure to check your spam folder too, in case you haven’t done so already.
If you still can’t find it, let us know and we can try to open a support ticket for you instead.
Keep me updated!
@Megan
So I didn't ever receive an email or ticket number, but I see that dropbox has refunded the $11.99 on my bank statement. So this has been resolved. Thank you Megan and Dropbox for your support and for resolving this super quickly I really appreciate it.

Hi, for the past two months my digital card was charged for a drobox subscription that I have no recollection of creating.
I wouldn't be able to provide a transaction number, but if you contact me on my email I can at least verify that I am the owner of that visa card and maybe you can help med understand what account/subscription is connected to my card or help me terminate the subscription and get a refund for the past two transactions.
Best regards, Said

Phone support is available via a callback if you have a Dropbox Business account. All others can find the support options available to them on the Support page.
Being charged $19/month and my Dropbox is saying out of space. Infuriating.
Check your Plan page to see what plan it says your on. If it shows as Basic, then you're being charged for a different account from the one you're signed in to. Use the credit card charge lookup tool to identify the actual account you're being billed for.
I have exactly the same problem. Dropbot says to contact the BillingTeam but impossible to see how to do that on the web site.
I have been going through my bank statements for last year, and found a charge from DropBox for 119,88Euro. This account has no credit card and should not be linked to any of the DropBox e mails we use. How can we find the related email for this, so I can double check if this is fraud
Hey @enzo950sm, thanks for posting to our Community.
If you have an unknown charge in your bank statement, you can use our lookup tool, to locate the email address connected to the account in question.
Let me know how it goes or if you need anything else!
Hi Hannah - thanks for the suggestion - the charge is directly on my bank statement (and not from a credit or debit card). I tried to use one of the 12 digit alphanumeric references on the bank statement but this didnt work. I have all the information available from the bank statement, but just need to find someone that can connect this to an e mail address. any idea on who I can contact? Thanks!!!! E
Hey @enzo950sm, sorry to jump in here, but would it be OK if we reached out via email to have a further look internally?
Let us know and we'll use the email address that's linked to your profile here, on our Community.
For sure - please use an email and we can discuss further - that would be great!

Suddenly I got billed on a credit card for November 2022 and now I see a billing for December 2022 with an additional foreign transaction fee of $.35. I never signed up and do not want to sign up and do not want to pay anything. but cannot find anywhere to call to get the billing stopped, terminated refunded.
Any help out there?

Thank you Rich, Gosh looked all over the account site for this information
Thanks for your guidance. I used it and have asked Dropbox for an explanation.

Help! I have logged into both of my free accounts to verify ZERO billing BUT a charge of $11.99 is showing up on my Amex.

You can use the credit card charge lookup tool to identify the account you're being charged for. If it's one of your accounts you should be able to sign in to it, resetting the password if necessary, and cancel the billing.

I was just charged a renewal fee by Dropbox for an account I do not have. When I put the transaction information in the Dropbox search tool I just get an error message. I have followed all of the support suggestions and do not have an account that is tied to the credit card number they are charging. I have also never received a bill or an acknowledgment that a payment was received by Dropbox. This charge was reported to my credit card as fraud.
Hi @iszpilczak, welcome to our Community!
I'd be more than happy to help you locate this charge. Can I possibly send you an email to your Community-linked email address, in order for us to have a closer look into this?
Let me know!
Hi Megan,
Yes, please send me an email. I have tried to use the lookup tool and it just prompts me for the credit card information that I have provided.
Hi @iszpilczak, I just sent you an email.
Respond back to me, and we'll take it from there!
