Want to delete my account - no option available in General setting

I want to delete my account and everything, doc anfd files related BUT unlike what it is said in help center there NO "delete account" option in General settings. Please procede ASAP !!

I'm furious I cannot simply delete in a click. This is my right as a user so I would appreciate this to be done right away.

The option to delete your account should be found at the bottom of your Account page. If you're a member of a team then you won't be able to delete your account. You would need to contact the team admin in that case.

Thanks for your reply.

There is no delete button at the bottom of my account page (Account > general settings), nor am I part of team, or if so, I'm the admin because I create my account long time ago and shared it with two other people.

Any solution ?

Oooook! Now I get it!!

I was indeed part of a team I created myself ! This is why.

Your intel on the team thing helped me, gosh!

I deleted the team, which automatically kicked me out, and then the button delete account appeared! Woohoo !

Hi there,

I need help regarding the account deletion: I've already gone through the step-by-step description and even tried the direct link I found somewhere. However, I cannot get the delete option under my settings and whenever I try the direct link, I need to sign-in again and get redirected. Please help me, I really do not need my Dropbox account and want to get rid of it..

I've just moved your post here so that I can point you to Rich's reply above.

Otherwise, if you see your account's plan showing as "Basic" then you might be part of a free team. In this case, you can follow these steps to leave the team and you should see the option then.

I've followed the instructions to delete my account but there is no delete account option under Plan. What do I do?

How do I delete this account please? I see the option to delete in another account but this one does not. Please help as I need to urgently.

Hi!
To delete your account you should visit https://www.dropbox.com/account with a browser like Google Chrome or Firefox, and in the General tab, scroll down to the “Delete Account” section and follow the described steps.
Keep in mind that deleting your account is something that can’t be undone.

The option to delete does not appear. I mentioned this in my first message. Can someone from Dropbox help please?

Hey there @Michael123!

If you're not seeing the option to delete your account then it could be due to your account's current plan. You can check out your plan from here.

If you're account is currently on a paid plan, your account will need to downgrade to the Basic plan before you can delete it.

Otherwise, if you account is Basic then it may be that it's part of a free team. This can happen if the account was part of a Business trial at one point.

In this case, you can check out the steps on how to leave the team here so that you can delete the account.

All the instructions say go to Settings, then General, then Delete Account. The problem is I don't have an option to Delete Account. I can't see it anywhere. Is there something missing or is there something I have to do before the Delete option shows up? I think my account is just a personal account but I can't find where to confirm that. If it's an advanced account how do I find that and delete the account?

Thank you Daphne. I checked my account and it's a Basic account. I also work for myself so there's no team that I could have ever been a member of. Is there another way?

Would you mind sending me a screenshot of your plan page?

If you ever tried out a Business trial, your account could have been reverted to a free team after the trial expired.

In this case, the account would show as Basic, but just underneath it would also show "A member of xyz account".

Thank you Daphne. I don't see how to attached my screen shot. Under the Dropbox Basic is does say "You’re a member of the Chris F Dropbox account.

Does that help or how do I send you the print screen. The reply button to your post is grayed out so I can't use that either.

I am trying to delete and old Basic account that I no longer use and I have followed the instructions for deleting an account but when I go to Settings/General, there is no option for "delete account"

This Company SUCKS - They won't let me speak to a person, The phone number on my bill they send every month is a non-working number and the guy on chat can't even help me to cancel my account!!!!

Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the upper right corner.
Click Settings.
Under General, click Delete account.

However, There is NO DELETE option under General!!

Are you a part of a Team at all? If so you need to leave that first and then go to www.dropbox.com/account and scroll down to the bottom of the page
