I can't join a shared folder; Dropbox says I don't have enough space, even though I do.

Question

According to the dashboard on Dropbox.com, I am using 1.39 GB out of my 2.75 GB quota. This almost matches the space used on my local disk (1.38 GB).

However, when I try to join a folder of size 1 GB, I am told that "Your account is out of storage", and I only get the offer to upgrade my account. The upgrade page incorrectly states that I am "Using 1.37 GB of 2 GB space"

How can I join this folder, which is within my quota?

So, it turns out the folder is 1.46GB. Which is reported by DB as 1GB - which is a correct rounding. I created a little bit more space, and could join the folder.
