Can't remove my access from a shared folder since I don't have the option.

Question or Issue
I want to remove my access from a shared folder, where I am an editor to save up space (without deleting the shared folder for anyone else). I followed the advice from here: https://help.dropbox.com/share/leave-shared-folder. The problem is that from "manage permissions", I don't have the dropdown menu, where I can click "remove my access" (I am KA on the screenshot). I tried this on my Dropbox windows app and also from the browser website but I still can't do it. When I select delete on the said folder, it only offers to delete the shared folder for everyone. Is there any way I can remove the shared folder for myself so that it stays for others? Thanks for any help.

Is it possible that this shared folder that you're trying to remove your access from is nested inside another shared folder?

If that's the case then you'd need to try to remove your access from the top folder. An example will be: if I have a shared folder called CATS and inside it there's another shared folder called DOGS then you'd need to try to remove your access from the CATS folder.

Can you check, and let me know?

Also, have you tried following the same steps using an entirely different browser, or an incognito tab just to see if you get the same behavior?

Yes you are correct, this shared folder is nested in a top folder. The top folder is basically all the files for this entire project and there are parts of the project in nested folders inside of the top one.

Using your example: the top folder called CATS is a shared folder that contains the entire project, inside which are folders called DOGS, MICE and GEESE. I need to use MICE and GEESE, whilst DOGS is unnecessary for me. I would like to remove DOGS for myself only so that it does not take up my storage but others in the project can use it. Hope this example makes the situation clearer 😅

Is there no way to remove yourself from one nested shared folder whilst remaining in the top one? Or is the solution to ask the owner to remove myself from the nested folder?

The example makes perfect sense, and you're right.

I'd suggest you contact the owner of the shared folder, and ask them to remove you from the unnecessary shared folders. They can do this using these steps.
