Hello, I had a which was shared and all of sudden me and my collegue cannot see it and no files are to be seen and its not even in the deleted folder.
please assist i need it to be recovered
Thanks for your post, @Awais! Let’s have a look into this.
If I got it right, you were sharing a folder with your colleague and now you can’t see it anymore, or the files that were saved inside. Correct?
Aside from your Deleted files page, did both of you check your Shared tab and Events page?
If not, please have a look and let me know what you find.
Keep me posted.
@Nancy , Thanks for the instant reply.Me and my collegue we both cant see the folder and files in it. In simple words it just vanished. I tried seeing the activity, recently deleted folder, shared tab and delete history but still got nothing
Thanks for updating me too, @Awais! Which Dropbox platform were you previously using to access this folder (www.dropbox.com, the desktop app, or the mobile app)?
If you use the search bar on www.dropbox.com to search for the folder, or the files within, do you get any results? Feel free to send me a screenshot of what you see.
@Nancy I have been using both desktop app and dropbox.com (to check if files are loaded). Unfortunately I tried to search and still cant find anythingin addition is there any helpline that I can call and explain the situation. I cant afford to loose that folder please

Is there anybody else in the share? Have you asked them if it is still around?
@Mark it was shared between me and my collegue but he cant find it either.
@Awais, regarding your previous request, phone support is currently available to paid Dropbox teams.
Out of curiosity though, can you check your Dropbox email address (including your spam folder) and let me know if you got any emails from Dropbox there? If your folder was deleted for some reason, then it’s quite possible you’ve received an email notification about it.
Let me know, if you can find something this way.
@Nancy I checked my email as you suggested and did find a notification from Dropbox about the folder deletion(it had ended up in my spam folder). I was on a break during that period and unfortunately missed the notification at the time. I was wondering if there’s any way you could assist me in recovering the folder or guide me further on how to proceed with restoring it. I will really appreciate your guidance on this as this folder has really important work details which I cant afford to loose 😞
HI @Awais , how long ago were the files deleted from your account approximately?
Was it more than 30 days ago, or more than 180 days ago?
@Jay the folder/files got removed on 16th June 2025 which is 2 days before.
Hey @Awais , I hope it's okay for me to jump in here as well.
So, just to confirm, do you not see anything in your Shared page here?
No trace of the folder at all?
Hi @Hannah Thank you for the supportYeah I dont see the required folder and the files shared between me and my collegue I tried searching them but still nothing
Hi @Hannah @Jay @Nancy Please awaiting your kind response 🙏
Hi again, @Awais! Can you send me a screenshot of the email you received?
Hi @Nancy here it is
Thanks for the screenshot, I appreciate it.
If the folder was to be permanently deleted on the 06/13, I’m afraid there’s not much that can be done after this point.
However, in case you have a device that hasn’t synced to Dropbox, it may be possible to recover it this way. Otherwise, you can also get in touch with a member of the Dropbox team that owned the folder, in case they have a copy of it.
Hi @Nancy I was able to access the folder till 16th June 2025. Unfortunately this email was in spam and I was on leave and have limited access to my emails. Please can you check for some solution as this folder is really important for my job. Loosing it can cost a lot to me. How can I get in touch with a member of dropbox team that owned a copy ??
Hey @Awais !
I suggest going through any old emails that you have received, in order to see if you can locate the shared folder invitation that way.
Alternatively, if you recall any of the members of this shared folder, you might want to reach out to them.
Hi @Megan I have tried everything form my end and nothing is working my way. Please if the team can get in touch with me via call so I can explain the importance and urgency of that folder. It will cost me my job please. I am truly counting on your support

I'm afraid as has been said once the files are removed they are permanently removed. There is now nothing Dropbox can do. They are unrecoverable. As the warning email said they scheduled to be removed on the 13th although you may have had a few extra days.
Dropbox also does not have outgoing phone support. Inbound support is only available to paid for Business users (i.e. you have paid for the licence and not on a trial). However, they'll say the same - they emailed to warn you it was to be removed, it has been removed. Its not recoverable.
I'm really sorry but you'll need to use backups now to recover - as you talk about it being via work I assume there are backups of the devices and work etc to help with this although you may need to talk to IT.
