I'm reaching out regarding the unexpected disappearance of photos and files from my Dropbox Basic account.
I recently discovered that a significant number of my photos and files were removed, potentially due to changes in Dropbox's storage policies around May 2026.
Unfortunately, I was not aware that my files were at risk of deletion. After thoroughly checking my email inbox, I could not find any notification or warning informing me that my files would be permanently deleted.
I have already checked my Dropbox account, the Deleted Files section, and my computer, but the missing files are nowhere to be found.
These photos are extremely important to me and my family, as many of them contain irreplaceable personal memories.
I would sincerely appreciate your assistance with the following questions:
- Is there any possibility of recovering these files through Dropbox's internal backups or recovery systems, even if they are no longer visible in the Deleted Files section?
- Would upgrading to a paid Dropbox subscription allow me to recover these files or access additional recovery options?
- Could your technical team investigate my account and confirm whether the files are still recoverable?
- If the files were permanently deleted, could you clarify when and why this happened, particularly since I could not locate any prior notification?
I understand that there may be limitations to file recovery, but I would be extremely grateful if this case could be escalated to your technical team for further investigation.
