When I try to join a shared folder, it says I have no storage but my account is empty

Question

I just redownloaded dropbox after not using it for a few years. it currently says I have 0 of 2TB of space used. I am attempting to connect to a client's shared file, which is almost completely empty. I am the one who is supposed to upload things in there. however, when I click on Join Folder, it says that I have no storage space.

I have been circling the drain for hours trying to fix this. please let me know if you can help.

Are you sure it says of 2TB? Unless you are a paying user it is 2gb of space you have.

That means you dont have enough space to take the share on. So, if your quota is (as I suspect) 2gb and the share is 2.1gb you cannot accept it. Shared folders use up the quota of everybody,

As it's for a client, you may want to just upgrade your account, or, if it's read-only access, you need to ask for a shared link instead.
