I've lost access to an old Dropbox account and need to delete those files

Question

I want to delete some files and folders from my dropbox, but there is no delete button showing. I looked at ownership permissions and they are owned by a separate dropbox account that I made, some years ago, when I was working for someone else. I know the log in and password for that account, but Dropbox wants to send a 6 digit code to my old email address, at the company i no longer work for.

Is there any way to delete those files?

Thanks for the update. In this case, the best option would be for you to remove them from your account using the steps in the article I posted earlier, so they won't be visible on your personal account.

Once that's done, the quota they used up would be freed, giving you more space on your account.

the files were also shared with my personal dropbox account - so I want to delete/ remove them from there if possible.

that's correct - I have no way of accessing that account, and since it was me that set it up years ago, and since I set the password, no-one else can access it either!
