I get a prompt asking me to upgrade, and I can't access my files.

If there is help out there not related to dropbox, I apologize if this sounds rude. It is what I sent to Dropbox, but they will not confirm receipt of email. I am getting notices that I am over my limit. I am NOT going to upgrade. but I do not want to lose my info . The problem is, you have so many pop ups on my screen, I can not get to any of my files, photos or really anything . it is extremely frustrating. I can click on a folder, but i can not access it afterwards. There seems no way to delete once I click on it. or to change or anything. PLEASE REMOVE YOUR ****** COVERING MY BOX. STOP THE ADS, STOP ASKING ME TO UPGRADE.

I am on my HP laptop, i do not have, nor want the app.

Hi @JLP7447, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you try switching browsers to see if the same behavior occurs again to prevent you from exiting the prompt on this page?

Otherwise, you can try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running, clearing your cache and even resetting your browser entirely.

here is the same situation in an incognito window. so NO, that did not work. at the very bottom of the screen you can see an 1/8 of an inch of photos. i have tried all 3 layouts for photos and files. This is not frustrating, it is infuriating!#@$%^&*()_

I also clicked to open a file in a new window. It starts to open, but as soon as the computer stops "thinking" surprise, the same stupid popup.

Hey @JLP7447, thanks for the screenshots, and sorry to hear about that.

It sounds like this is happening due to your account being over its allocated storage. You can read what happens when a Dropbox Basic account goes over its 2 GB quota here.

To free up storage space, you can:
• Leave shared folders that count against your quota.
• Delete files or folders you no longer need via the Dropbox website.
• Check for any active Backups that might be using your space

Megan, your title suggests you have good info. I am over my storage so I am actively trying to access files etc so I can delete. I have 2.0 G of storage and I am at 2.01 GB. SO to break that down, we are talking 10 MB or maybe 10 friggin photos. I don't mean to be rude, I really need help because I would rather Dropbox not delete a ton of stuff. and I can not get to ANYTHING.

WELL, If you read either of my post or comments and looked at the attached screenshots, you should know that none of what you typed will work. I can NOT access any of the files because of the stupid upgrade pop-ups. It acts like one might open, but when I do, the same exact pop-ups covers everything. my only option is to upgrade, and that is not an option for me. especially for .01GB/ thanks for trying

I want to help you get to the bottom of this, so please bear with me. I know this might sound trivial, but when you try to scroll through your files, does the pop-up message scroll with you, or does it remain stuck there?

Thanks for reporting this issue, and sorry for the frustration!

We're actively working on a fix. In the meantime, could you try zooming out the page to see if that brings the file list back into view? You can do this by clicking the three-dot menu in your browser toolbar and decreasing the zoom level until the file list is visible.

Please let us know if that works for you.

I have the same problem saying that I am over my limit. I have deleted everything and somehow still over my limit. I have tried to find any backups with no success. This has been the problem for more then two years. I will not upgrade and have been unable to use the program. Thus I have drifted to other solutions. Still Dropbox has me over the limit. My own NAS has been a dream.

only the file names scroll and if I have it on photos, they scroll at the bottom, but I can only see a slight sliver of the colors, not really even tell how many photos there are across (visible in one of my attachments). the popups stay covering everything. Just for everyone to see, also, I have cleared cache and cookies.

the real kicker as mentioned before is being only .01 gb over. i could delete a few photos if only…. this is absurd. I quit!!! i guess dropbox can just keep my business and personal files. and I pray I don't get audited. If anyone want to report me so I can get audited, just let me know and I'll tell you who is screwing up my business besides dropbox!

Got it, thanks for letting us know. Another thing you could try is switching your browser to full-screen mode, which may give the file viewer enough space to display correctly.

You can enter full-screen mode by pressing F11 on your keyboard, or by opening the browser's three-dot menu, finding the Zoom section, and clicking the Full Screen icon (the square with diagonal arrows) on the far right.
