I have disconnected Dash, but it keeps reappearing. I do not want this application. How can I get it to finally go away?
Hey @NatalieH1D, thanks for your post!
Would you mind giving us some more info on this?
How does Dropbox Dash keep reappearing for you?
Any screenshots that would explain the issue better, are welcome.
Thanks in advance!
Hi @Dell_Dropbox I'm also getting the same issue @NatalieH1D faces, even though I have neither the Dash extension or Dash app. Even though I disconnect the Dash app repeatedly from my Dropbox settings and receive a success modal, it automatically re-connects if I go to my Dropbox homepage on browser and has the annoying "Try asking ..." pop-up in the top right.
Hey @calsccostudio! If you’ve already double checked the “All apps”/”Applications” section on your Windows/Mac device, we’ll need to look into this further and check what else may be happening.
However, since our forum will be going through a few updates from today till 04/08, you can visit the following for further assistance:
• Dropbox Support• Dropbox Help Center• Dropbox Learn• Our social channels (X, Facebook, or Instagram)
Thanks!
Hi @Nancy, I've never installed Dropbox Dash as an app, and double-checked to make sure it's not there either. While I most commonly use the Drobox app, which doesn't seem to be as negatively affected by Dropbox Dash, the issue still persists on the web app, even after repeatedly disconnecting it in settings. Keep me posted when you guys find a fix. Thanks!
Hey there!
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. Reply back to me, and we'll take it from there.
Thanks a bunch!
@Nancy, @Megan I don't see any Dash specific settings in my Dropbox account, but I am seeing what appears to be an AI enhanced search function in my Dropbox account online, where it appears all images and content have been scanned for search that goes beyond files names, PDF content and so on - if I search "bathroom" for example, it is delivering images with any kind of tile, shower, toilet, bathtub, etc. This was delivered almost instantly as well, implying that these files were already indexed by whatever kind of in depth cataloging, and I for one feel this to be fairly invasive. Can someone please advise on what I'm seeing and what the format for this kind of scanning is.
Hey @RChap, thanks for your nudge here.
I've gathered some resources with info for you to look into on what Dropbox Dash is, how to use it and how safe and secure it is.
I hope your questions will be answered, but let me know if you need anything else!
@Hannah I didn't ask for info on how to use it or how safe it is - I want to know when, why, and how, my files were deep scanned to be able to be searched like this, with no alert or option to opt out. It is invasive.
Hmm, is it possible that you're not actually talking about Dash, but about image search instead?
