I think I deleted my Dropbox account instead of changing my email address

Question

I had a Dropbox account under my old Gmail address. I started a new email address and tried to change the associated address under the account settings. That seemed to have worked but all of my old files from the Gmail account are now gone.

I have no idea how to get back my old file… :(

Hi @DavidR8, let me jump in to see if we can figure this out.

Can you try to sign in to the Dropbox website with your old Gmail address, but this time from a different browser or a private browsing window, and let me know what you see?

It seems not/ I tried to log in using my Gmail account and it acts like a brand new account.

Are you sure you have changed the email on the account and not actually just accidentally set up a new account?

What happens if you try and log in to the old email account using the old email and password?
