In simple steps how do I see the files in the dropbox so I can delete those I choose?

If you're using our website, you can sign into your account online, and access your home page to see your account's content.
After that you can follow these steps in order to delete any of your files. Provided that you need to free some of your space, I'd also suggest that you check your Backups page for any active backups that you might be using.
