Folder not being shared

Question

For a while now, I have had several people tell me that they cannot access a folder that I have shared with them - invited them to view and download the contents when I invite them by using their email.

Years ago, I was able to simply copy the link, paste into an email, and they were able to access the folder and its contents no problem.

Since I had problems with a link, I have been inviting by using their email and yet, I'm still having people continually saying that can't access the folder.

BACKGROUND:

* Basic Plan (Free)
* I have plenty of space in my account
* The folder I'm trying to share has three subfolders that include picture and logo files (JPEGs and PNGs).
* Macbook Pro and doing all of this online (not via an app).

Would love to know why this is happening and what the solution is.

Hi there @gtrcoop - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

When you use their email addresses to share the folder with them, you're basically granting them not only view and download rights but edit rights as well. In this case, they'll need to have enough quota in their Dropbox account to access the share.

If you'd like to share it without affecting their quota, you can use shared links as outlined here.
