Dropbox API and access tokens for enterprise level

Hi All,

My name is Oren and I work in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's research computation center (HURCS). We are setting up a university-wide DropBox service that will serve multiple (many) teams.

I am developing a plugin for DropBox for our billing system. I followed the documentation to set up an API app and was able to fetch quota and usage data via the API. However, I could only figure out how to do this at a single team level, and since we are going to manage many teams, I would like to have enterprise level access, that is, I would like to be able to access the API with one, enterprise level key and read a list of our managed teams and then the quota and usage data from each.

So is that at all possible? And if yes, can you let me know how?

Hi @Oren Shani,

It's not possible to access multiple managed teams via a single, enterprise-level API key. The API is designed to operate at the individual team level, meaning you can only retrieve information such as quota and usage data for one team at a time — as you have already discovered.

That said, I'll pass this along as a feature request. I can't promise if or when that might be implemented though.

So what if I use only one team and then organize the users in the team into several groups. Will I be able to set quotas and monitor usage at the group level? For example, will I be able to set up folders that only a specific group access and set quotas for these folders?

Organizing members into groups will not provide the ability to set quotas nor monitor these either. Setting quotas can only be done at the user level.
