How can I delete my Dropbox files only from one connected device and not the others?

Hi!

I'm sure this question is simple! I would like to remove Dropbox from my laptop, including all files, but I want the files to remain on all other devices (desktop and mobile). If I move the Dropbox application and all Dropbox files on my laptop into the trash, will this delete the files from all other devices, too?

MAC OS 14.6.1

If you delete the files in the Dropbox folder while the application is running, the files will be deleted everywhere.

Uninstall the Dropbox application first, then you can safely delete the Dropbox folder.

Hi LFW,

To prevent your files from being deleted - please go to the Dropbox Tray Icon on your Laptop, and sign out. This will unlink your laptop from your Dropbox account, and you can then Move the Dropbox folder to trash without impacting your Desktop/Mobile.

To do so - click on the Tray Icon -> Click on your initials icon (in the top right) -> Preferences -> Account -> Sign out.
