When I try to open a shared folder on mobile, the website asks me to install the app. I don't want to do that
Edit: Screenshot:
Hi @esk! Welcome back to our Community.
Can you send me a screenshot of what you’re seeing exactly?
Are you accessing a folder that’s been shared with your Dropbox account, or a shared link instead?
Let me know when you’ve got more updates.
Thanks for the screenshot and the updates! Is the owner of the folder sending you a shared link with view-only permissions, or edit permissions instead?
Hey @esk, this is a prompt that someone can easily just close from the X at the top right corner.
If you scroll to the top, and dismiss the Learn More, are you able to find a way to close the window?
What happens if you click "view folder" instead?
This screenshot was taken at the top of the page. It's impossible to scroll up and see the X button on the learn more banner. View folder opens the Dropbox app (which I have installed, but the recipient doesn't).
However, I just confirmed that I am able to dismiss the banner on Safari on iOS. This issue only seems to happen on Chrome mobile.
I tested this on an Android device as well in the meantime, and everything looks good on my end. Meaning, I see a small X at the top right corner of the screen, which lets me continue directly to the website, without having to install/log in to the mobile app first.
Does the recipient have any other browsers on their mobile device perhaps to check this?
Hey @esk, certainly!
I'll forward your feedback to the appropriate areas so we can continue to improve our app.
In the meantime, if you need anything else don't hesitate to give us a shout!
