I can't open folders and keep getting this error message.
Hi @michael omahoney, thanks for posting here! Let’s have a look.
Is this happening for all folders on your Dropbox account, or just specific ones?
Have you tried switching browsers, or testing this via an incognito window?
Let me know, if that makes a difference.
Hi Nancy, We did try incognito and not working on my laptop. I have 2 accounts and both work on my phone but neither on laptop. Just keep getting an error message and cannot open folders or click on my initials to log out etc.
Hi again, We just logged in via a private tab on my laptop but it seems to automatically log me back into my account where I was from the non-private browser
Thanks for the updates, @michael omahoney!
Can you close any incognito windows you may have open, and try again? When opening an incognito window for the first time, it shouldn't log you automatically into any accounts at all.
Also, what I can suggest next for the default browser on your computer is to clear its cache, check for any pending updates, and also disable any additional plugins.
If you keep receiving the same error after that, please let me know.
Hi Nancy,
I have cleared my cache, disabled plug ins, no updates due, opened in an incognito window and now the drop box page is blank white with no options.
I was able to access both my shared work drop box folder and personal folder on my phone before. I tried again and now the work shared box has disappeared. I have asked the company to invite me again. Nothing but a white screen.
Thanks Mick.
Sorry @michael omahoney, but just to clarify, are you having an issue accessing the account as a whole? Or are you getting the blank screen after you've logged in and tried to open the folders in the account?
Hi Hannah,
I was getting a blank screen, now the same error message as before and cannot open folders. I can now see them again but cannot open. Error message below.
Thanks!
Hi @michael omahoney, you mentioned that everything works on your mobile, right?
Does this happen with all of your content, or some of it?
Also, did you have any luck when trying an entirely different browser?
Hi Megan,
Yes works fine on my mobile, just that I can't open folders on my work laptop. All content is ok on my mobile, can't open anything on laptop. I have tried Chrome, Edge and private incognito tab and nothing is working. I'm hoping the vendor we share the box with can invite me agin and see if this fixes this. Not confident though.
Cheers Mick.
Hi @michael omahoney, are all these devices connected to the same network/WiFi?
Have you tried using another way, like your mobile data, to connect and access our website, to see if that works?
I'd also suggest whitelisting the Dropbox website on any VPN or proxy you may have, or if you have some kind of antivirus or firewall, I'd check there as well.
I've tried using my mobile data and still didn't work. I simply cannot use my work computer to sign in and keep getting the same error message. Not sure what to try as our IT doesn't support Dropbox. I'll ask our IT about the whitelisting idea. The issue started when I clicked on a different folder that I normally access through my personal email. I would've thought you could have more than one droppbox folder.
Regards Mick.
