authorisation code is being sent to an old email address - the primary email - which is no longer accessible. The account does have a secondary email - can the code be sent to the secondary email?
Hey @1895rugby, welcome to our Community.
Unfortunately, there's no way to send this email to your secondary address.
Do you have any devices already linked/logged in to this account perhaps?
Keep me posted.
thank you to all, and especially the dropbox support teams - issue resolved.
Hello I have the same issue. Could you share me the solution please? [Removed as per Community Guidelines]
Hi @omarjhorta, do you have access to the old email, or any way to recreated it?
I am trying to log in to Dropbox and the code is going to an old email address I no longer have. The email address no longer in existence.
Hi @nishdes, are you able to recreate the old email, or temporarily reactivate it to see if you're able to receive the security code to login to your account?
I have the same problem, I don't have access to the e-mail account connected to the dropbox-account. And it can not be reactivated since it was my work-address and I don't work there anymore.
@m_o, do you have any devices that are currently logged in with that email address in order to transfer your files out of the account?
No, I don't.
I’d recommend getting in contact with our support team directly to look into this matter in more detail.
You can do this by opening an incognito/private browsing window, while not signed into any account, and accessing this link.
From there you should be able to contact support. Make sure to enter an email address you can access.
Thanks Jay, I'll follow up on that.
Jay, I went in to this link and it was where I was before and used the Chatbot and didn't any further.
I also posted through the Community link and this is where you responded. Can you give me a phone number of an email address to someone, as I have already gone through this and there is no clear other option via the link you sent me.
Could you attach a screenshot showing the options you get when accessing that link from an incognito/private browsing window, since you shouldn't have to go through chatbox?
@Krdh wrote:How can I log in to a Dropbox account for which the email address is now inactive. To be clear, the address does not work and cannot be reactivated. Dropbox asks me to enter a code sent to this nonexistent address. surely this situation arises occasionally, yet dropbox seems to have no procedure to address it. I have the userID (email address) and password.Any workaround would be much appreciated.A member posted that Dropbox support had resolved this problem for him, but he did not share it as requested.
Its not always possible you can get access, however, the ONLY way is to contact support at www.dropbox.com/support while NOT logged in to any account or the forums (maybe use an incognito window) and click on the account log on issues button.
