Option to get metadata for root

I have been using API V1 to get metadata for root folder. But I came to know that, this is not available in API V2. This is very essential to my app.

Can you suggest any option or alternate?

Can you elaborate on what information for the root folder you're using from API v1?

API v2 doesn't support the root folder on /2/files/get_metadata. If you need to list the contents of the root folder, you should call /2/files/list_folder[/continue] with "" as the path:
