What's taking up all that storage in my Dropbox account?

Hi, Dropbox is about to delete files from my account because it says I'm 7.36 GB over my 23.75 GB quota even though I don't even have files that use that much space in my account. 7.36 GB is more so the amount of storage I'm using in total. Please help me fix this issue.

As a first step, could you check your account's plan page to see your exact Dropbox quota breakdown of what is using your space? Feel free to share a screenshot if you'd like, so that I can have a visual too.

Have you made sure that you don't have any shared content taking up space in your Dropbox account? What about any active backups?

hi, this is the breakdown that it says, but most of those shared folders I’m no longer even connected to. I try to open one of those shared folders and I just get a pop saying to increase my storage by subscribing to Dropbox plus. There’s like 6 out of 30 shared folders I’m able to open that have the 3 dots on the right of them

Hi @yuri_k! Can you please follow these steps next, from your Home page at www.dropbox.com? They’ll allow you to calculate the size of the folders you have on your Dropbox account, and see which one is taking up the most space.

this only adds up to about 7GB. not sure where the other 23GB is.

Hey @yuri_k! Thank you for the screenshot; it's really helpful.

I noticed two entries showing no calculated data—could those be causing the issue? Have you had a chance to check inside those folders to calculate their contents?

Since our plan page is usually very accurate about storage, that 29.1 GB is likely coming from your shared folders. If you no longer need those two entries, removing them might help clear up some space. Let me know how it goes!

those 2 folders are empty. they aren't the issue
