Referral space missing after downgrading my Dropbox account

At least 15 years with dropbox, I remmember I used to have more than 10 gb possible more than 15gb of storage with free account thanks to recommendations, missions, and other promotions that let me try and dropbox capabilities. Many years using 2tb plan I needed pause the cloud service. My surprise is that now I only have 2 Gb of storage not only that I can't download data because it can't compress the files (possibly sync again can help).
What I would like to know is the policy is that if you pay and go back to the free plan you lose the missions and recommendation rewards.

Thanks for the screenshot! Did you manage your own business team, or were you part of someone else's? If the latter, did the admin remove you and delete your account during that process, or did they simply convert your account back to an individual one?

Also, when was the last time you accessed your Dropbox account before? I ask because you mentioned it appeared to be "closed down." Is it possible it was closed due to inactivity and then re-opened? If so, your referrals would indeed have been lost.

Have you only just accessed your Dropbox account after two years? If you search through your emails, can you find any messages from Dropbox informing you that your account was closed?

This is crucial because if the account was deleted and later reopened, your referrals would also have been removed.

Hey @Jaeyeok - thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Note that when you downgrade your account to the Dropbox Basic plan, any referral space you might have earned in the past will now be 500 MB each instead of 1 GB.

That said, can you navigate to your plan page as outlined here and let me know what you find in regards to your storage space?

Nach zwei Jahren Business und anschließender Kündigung sind unter derselben E-Mail-Adresse nur noch 2 GB verfügbar, und die Referral-Historie ist leer. My original Dropbox Basic account had around 16 GB of storage earned through referrals, Camera-sync, etc.
After using Dropbox Business for two years and then cancelling, my account under the same email address now only has 2 GB, and my referral history is now empty.

Could you please check what happened and whether my previous referral storage can be restored? Unfortunately, I no longer have screenshots of the old storage allowance.

Also, I have moved your post into an existing thread since another member raised a similar concern. Could you check your referrals page and let me know what you see? A screenshot of that page, while making sure to hide any names or email addresses would also be very helpful.

Is it possible that you might be using a different Dropbox account, or that you have two separate accounts? I ask because Dropbox doesn't remove your referral space whether you upgrade or downgrade.

i hope you can understand my german empty referral page tho :) back in the days, i was at 16gb if i remember correctly. on my gmail, i only find 1 mail about my 4gb not being enough as a "proof"

i can look further into my mails - as i never deleted them since 2005 or so - to find more info regarding this, (i need proper searchwords/tips to look out for to find them)

somehow, after i discontinued my business account, i was baffled that the account seemed "closed down"

Hey, I managed the team myself, and then, we rightfully just canceld the contract after 2 years. (this was 2 years ago, and only now I questioned all of this)

I assumed i was converted back to normal, only to find out that my account seemed deleted.

We’d like to remind you that the the.hive team is still in a locked state. If the the.hive team remains in a locked state after October 23, 2024, the team and all its files, admin accounts, and member accounts will be permanently deleted.

There are three ways to resolve the locked state:

Keep Dropbox for teams and purchase a new subscription.
Disband the team.
Permanently delete the team.

If your team is deleted because it remains in a locked state, folders shared with people outside your team will be deleted shortly after October 23, 2024, as we will notify other users in advance that these folders will be deleted. For more information about what happens to externally shared folders, please see our Help Center article.

Select Review options to choose the best option for you.

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, there isn't much we can do in this case.

If the account were disbanded instead, then all admins and team members would revert to a Dropbox Basic account, keeping their personal folders and content, including pre-existing referrals.
