Hi, can you explain to me why I receive (and it happened 2 times) access requests from strangers to my private files?And possibly how to remedy this problem so you don't receive any more... Thank you very much...
Hi @gianmarconieri, and thanks for posting on our forum. Are you receiving these requests for a specific file/folder that you’ve already shared with other people on your Dropbox account? If yes, I’m wondering whether they forwarded the email invite you sent them to another person, and they’re asking for access to your files, as well. Let me know, if that’s not the case though.
Hi, yes I shared the file with someone.But the request comes from a stranger,which neither I nor the person to whom I sent the file knows.Thanks for your reply.
Has the link been posted publicly at all?
The only way people can find the link is if they have access to it - i.e have been sent it or its online. The links are so randomly generated that it isnt possible to guess them.
Another thing to consider is that the person who has been sent them is trying to access via another device which is actually already logged in to a Dropbox account. As that specific account doesnt have access to your Dropbox file it is then needing to request it - note as well though that the request is not auto, somebody needs to say 'yes, I want to ask for this'.
