I'm hoping someone can help me with a frustrating issue I've been dealing with for three months.
The Problem: About three months ago, I made the mistake of deleting the Gmail account that my Dropbox is linked to. Now I'm stuck in a catch-22 situation:
- I'm still logged into Dropbox on one computer through the desktop app
- When I try to change my email address in Account Settings, Dropbox sends a confirmation email to the old Gmail address (which no longer exists)
- Without being able to confirm the email change, I can't install Dropbox on my other computers since they require login with the old email address
- I've contacted Dropbox support multiple times over the past three months, but they keep directing me to the same Settings page that doesn't work in my situation
What I Need: A way to change my account email address without needing to access the deleted Gmail account for verification.
What I've Tried:
- Following the standard email change process (doesn't work due to deleted email)
- Multiple support tickets (no resolution)
- Various troubleshooting steps suggested by support
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a way to get Dropbox support to manually change the email address after identity verification through other means?
