Hey everyone! 👋
If you're new to Dropbox or just looking to customize your Dropbox account a little more, this guide is for you. Managing your settings doesn’t have to be complicated, and I’ll walk you through it step by step in plain language. Whether you're on a computer 💻 or using the mobile app 📱, we've got you covered.
- Head over to dropbox.com and sign in.
- In the bottom-left corner, click on your profile picture or initials.
- From the menu that shows up, click Settings.
Once you're in, you'll see a few tabs you can click through:
- General: This is where you can update things like your name, email, language, and time zone.
- Plan: Check what plan you're on and see upgrade options if you ever need more space.
- Security: Manage your password, enable two-step verification, and check which devices are logged into your account.
- Notifications: Choose what kinds of email or in-app updates you want (or don’t want).
- Connected Apps: See which apps have access to your Dropbox and remove anything you don’t recognize.
- Sharing: Set default permissions for shared folders and files so things are only as public as you want them to be.
This is your control panel, so take your time and explore 🤗.
- Open the Dropbox app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap the Account in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap Settings.
Here you can:
- View account details
- Manage notifications
- Turn camera uploads on or off
- Access offline files
- Sign out or switch accounts
It's all pretty straightforward once you know where to look 😉.
- Don’t be afraid to click around. Most settings have a short explanation.
- You don’t need to change everything right away. Just getting familiar with the layout is a great first step 👍.
Don’t forget, if you’re stuck or unsure about something, the Community is here to help 👩💻. (We have a whole board dedicated to any queries about Settings and Preferences.)
Hope this helps anyone getting started or just looking to fine-tune their Dropbox experience. If you’ve got any questions or tips of your own, feel free to reply below or head over here.
