Someone accessed my Dropbox account and deleted all files, and want money to get them back

Such bad security by Dropbox. I have 2FA turned on, yet someone was able to gain access and took all my files. Like ransomware.

I Did recover my account by changing password,, but i cannot find my files. It's not even there in recent deleted section. I had around 5.2GB worth of files.

Please help what can i do ?

Are you certain that no one else had access to your Dropbox account? Did you join a Dropbox team by any chance?

Do you have any copies of your files on a device you haven't accessed recently?

Yes, i'm certainly sure to have the only access to this account. Yes i had kept logged in, at multiple pc's like my work desk and personal computer. But their sole access was through me.

I do have few files, but only around 1.2 gb worth of it.. The remaining 4gb of data is with this fraudster who is demanding 2500$ from me. It's absurd.

I'm happy to verify with dropbox however way possible, i simply need to recover my work files, as it is imperative for me.

As you're not seeing the missing files on the deleted files page, then it sounds like the files were permanently deleted from the site.

Due to this, it wouldn't be able to recover the deleted data, even from our end. We're sorry we can't be more helpful on this matter.
