'That didn't work for some reason' message

I've cleared the cache. I currently use Google Chrome and removed the 2 extensions I had. I tried Firefox and DuckDuckGo. I tried opening in another window as incognito. Didn't work

I will add that when I uninstall/reinstall each time I can access the links once. I am able to view the video link. Once I get out of the program or try another link, I get the error message. When I removed the extensions, I could view the video on the link once. Again, after I got out of the program or tried another link, I get the error message.

Hey @jll6881, sorry to jump in here.

Are all the browsers you tried updated to the latest version?

Yes. I just checked Chrome and it's up to date. I recently uninstalled the other 2 browsers because I like Chrome better, but those were up to date also.

Hi @jll6881,have you also checked with the owner of the file to see if they've deleted or moved it from their account since they first shared the link with you?

Yes. That was the first thing I did. She did not change anything. A few people in our group had the same problems as me a few weeks ago, but they just went away after a few days. It works for them now. I'm the only one in a group of 56 that is having problems.

Hey @jll6881, can you let us know if you're supposed to have 'view only' or 'can edit' access to the link?

If you have 'can edit' access, do you have the content stored in your account?

And can you also add &dl=1 to the end of the link and ensure that the link is not being cut off when you copy it?

I only have a view only link. A word document is sent to us with notes from the video and then a link to the video to watch.

Hi @xglorx, have they confirmed that the link works on their end, when viewing it from an incognito/private browsing window?

I don't think they view it in an incognito/private browsing window but the other people who have been sent the link have no issue opening it. She sent it twice and both don't work

Do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

I don't - I'm running a MacBook M1

Have you tried accessing the link from a different network entirely? Do other devices on your network have the same issue when opening the link?

I just tried it in my iPhone app and it works but now it’s saying I’m out of space…I was under the impression that a shared folder doesn’t require any space requirements because I’m not saving anything, just accessing someone else’s folder.

Also I’d need to access this on my MacBook for editing so the iPhone solution doesn’t really help…

Shared folders do take up quota on your account, so if you want to view the files, you can ask the owner of the folder to create a shared link to view the files.

Okay if that's the case, how much space do you need to access shared folders? the same amount of data from the shared folder?

Also, this still doesn't address the fact that it isn't working on my MacBook. Has there been a solve for this? thanks

You would need more free quota on your account than the size of the shared folder.

This is regarding your Dropbox account, not the device, so the same issue would apply on the computer.
