We’re big fans of a good idea, and Share an idea is a hive of great ones. Sometimes those ideas become a reality, and sometimes they might take time or just not be feasible right now. We want to make sure we keep you updated on the progress, and why some things might not have moved yet, so you can be in the loop and you can make the most of these new features.
This is our favorite bit. Here are some of the ‘Share an Idea’ success stories, the ideas that have finished testing, and are now live.

- Create new paper doc in same folder - @icrosby’s idea is now a reality too, so no more extra steps in creating new Dropbox Paper docs right where you are. (This has been live a little while, but we wanted to make sure you see it)
- Support for Dropbox app on Chromebook - an idea submitted by @Thomas C. is also live now - check it out here.
- Ability to see all shared folders - by @Victory D. is also, you guessed it, live now! Learn all about it right over here.
- Detect, Prevent, and Notify users of Ransomware attack - an idea by @Daniel S.148 has also made it to the delivered list! Now when suspected ransomware is detected, your admin will receive an email notification and next steps on what to do. Learn all about it here.
- Administratively set the Dropbox folder location - an idea from @nvarney is now live 😁
. You can find out more information on how to set a Dropbox Folder location for your team here, along with other features.
- Make file prefixing an option - file requests - this idea by @jules s.2 is now live and you can use file requests to collect files from others, even if they don’t have a Dropbox account. The files will appear in a folder you choose in your Dropbox account. Learn all about it here.
- Sort photos by date taken - this simple but great idea, shared by @Saepl is now live too. To sort by date captured, check the box next to Replace with existing dates detected in filenames or change the date format with the dropdown. Check it out here.
It takes time to make sure that ideas can really work. These ideas are currently being investigated by our engineers, so keep your eyes peeled for updates on these ideas - or wait for our next update!
We’re excited to see these ideas come to life, and we look forward to sharing more updates with you regularly. We are working hard to make sure you have the information you want and need, so let us know what you’d like to see more of here!
