can you do an endswith search in the search box on dropbox.com?
This does not actually work. I have seen a bunch of similar requests while looking for a solution to my same question. I am looking for just SQL scripts, which I would search for from a command prompt with *.sql. However, searching for "SQL" on my company Dropbox results in lots of files with "SQL" in the content including numerous PDF files that are books about SQL Server.
Hi @RWMOREY, happy Tuesday!
What you can try on your end, is check the file type filter online, and search for your file types using the "other" option you see there. That way, you can narrow down your search.
Of course, you can use the other filters too, in case they help. In any case, I'll forward your feedback to the appropriate areas so we can continue to improve.
If you need anything else, let me know!
So, two years later and I'm another user trying to find files with a specific extension but can't. In my case I just want to find files with an extention of '.pkg' and I don't want to see the many hundreds of other files that have the letters 'pkg' somewhere else in their filename, let alone in their content.
And choosing 'Other' doesn't do anything. I click on Type = Other expecting to be able to enter a file type in some way - ideally just by entering an extension - but I don't see any such option. What exactly does the 'Other' option do? Does it simply exclude the other named types? That still leaves thousands of possible file types to browse through. What use it that?
If I'm missing something, please explain!
Hey @BN1701, thanks for the nudge here.
The "other" option should indeed exclude the other already existing types of files from the search.
We understand where you're coming from, though, and we really appreciate your feedback on this.
Rest assured that your comments will be passed on to our team.
Please fix this Dropbox. You can do it via python, just implement it in your UI.
