I received a message that my Dropbox is full and discovered that there are a large number of files that are stored online but are not on my computer. How can I delete these?
Follow the instructions below to delete a file or folder from your Dropbox account:
On dropbox.com
Hi - I've googled how to delete folders from Dropbox. The answer is to click on the relevant file, then on the ellipsis. I've done that but there is no option to delete the folders i want to remove.
Hi @Technically challenged, welcome to our Community!
Which platform do you use in order to delete your files? Are you using the website, mobile or desktop app?
Also, are you referring to shared content by any chance, or are the folders you want to delete uploaded by you?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!
many thanks Megan, i appreciate your prompt response. im using the website ie https://www.dropbox.com/home/mattress [mattress is one of the folders i want to delete. it is not a shared file ie im the only one who can access it.
Hi @Technically challenged, thanks for the speedy response!
You'd need to access your homepage, locate the folder (don't access it) then follow the steps mentioned above in this thread. Can you give it a go?
I have been trying to delete some old folders I have (on the website) and everything I read tells me to "Hover over the file or folder and click the "…" (ellipsis)."
The problem is, when I hover over the file or folder, there ARE no ellipsis!
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!
~Perry
HI @ppbcopywriting, are you on the main files page where you can view the folder you're trying to delete?
Could you attach a screenshot (while hiding personal info) showing where you're trying to delete from?
