I'm getting a permissions error when trying to delete a file in my Dropbox folder

Question

I'm trying to delete a 1.6Gb MP4 file.  No matter what I try under file Properties\Security, the popup says "You require permission from DOUG_LENOVO\[removed] to make changes to this file."

"[removed]" is the only user on this PC, and it says "Administrator" under the name.  The path to Dropbox reads "C:\Users\[removed]\Dropbox".

Hannah—  I don't want to delete any other file, just that large old one that's taking up 80% of my space.  I don't have the DropBox icon on my taskbar, even when it's running and open.  Trying DropBox online in Firefox, I can check the box to select the file, but the Delete button is greyed out.

I'm sorry to see that you're having this issue; does it only happen with this particular file or with other files in your Dropbox folder as well?

What do you see when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your taskbar?

Have you tried to delete the file from your Dropbox account online instead?

Let me know and we'll go from there.
