I'm getting an error that I'm using 6.44TB, when my files are just below 2TB - why?

Use Dropbox all the time for work, I have a 2TB plan. I sent something earlier to a client and added it to my dropbox via the desktop app (Mac) and send it with no issues. Had to make a change and went to upload the revised file and was met with an error message saying that I could not sync the file as I was now using 6.44 TB of my 2TB plan. It shows this on the browser dropbox and the app. I've went through all my files meticulously (even shared folders) and I am just below 2 TB as I have always been maintaining. I cannot find what this could even be and it is just an error as far as I can tell. Anyone know what this could be? Or how to fix it?

Would you mind sending me a screenshot of what you see on this page regarding your usage? Just to see what kind of files are taking up your space.

In the meantime, can you check if someone else might have added files to a shared folder, for example, which might have increased your usage without you actually doing it yourself?

It's saying 5.4 TB in shared files but I have checked all of my shared folders. There's seems to be no way to easily check the size of shared folders but I have individually searched through each one and no one has added a 4TB file/folder to anything. Nothing has even been added to any since days before I got this storage alert.

Hi from me too, @dlus99! Based on your screenshot, it looks like the majority of your Dropbox space is used by shared content indeed.

Can you also follow these steps to calculate the size of your folders on the Dropbox website, and send me one more screenshot of the results? You can copy and paste it here directly.

It will not give me a size on my folders but I have checked every single shared folder multiple times and nothing has 4 TB in it, or has even had anything added to it in weeks

Take a look on your shared folders and I'm sure you'll see where all those content has come from. 😉

As I stated, I checked every shared folder multiple times. It also just retracted 4TB without any changes so it was something on Dropbox's end I guess.
