Password-protected files won't open on my Android mobile app, or locally after downloading them

Question

This started recently. Password-protected files in my  Dropbox Android app do not open on the device, irrespective of whether I try to open them from Dropbox or download them first. My native app is Calibra (i.e. LibreOffice files), but it makes no difference whether they are saved in the native .odt format or as docx. They open as usual on the laptop.

I did all that with no result but then tried opening a file in Google Drive and it doesn't work either. So I will checjk that it isn't a collabra problem.

First off, I’d like a screenshot of what you see exactly when trying to open said files, so please copy and paste it here on the forum.

Other than that, do you have any similar files that are only stored on your local device? Can you open those normally, even if they’re password-protected?

In the meantime, you can try to clear the cache of your Dropbox app (via its settings), and reinstall it on your mobile device. Just make sure that you’re not on a free Basic plan first, with more than 3 devices currently linked.
