Random creation of thousands of empty selective sync conflict folders

I have not even modified anything at all. Dropbox sometimes like to create a ton of folders of "selective sync conflict" that are all empty. I only use Dropbox on my Mac and my phone. I don't even have a second computer. I have not even modified anything. This is simply unreasonable and unacceptable. Today I found thousands of empty selective sync conflict folders on my Dropbox web and I can no longer tolerate this. They are created in folders that are YEARS OLD and no longer in use. Usually these Dropbox web folders cannot even be deleted. When I click delete on dropbox web nothing even happens. I've been using Dropbox since it first launched and I will switch unless you fix this bug.

Generally, a selective sync conflict happens when a folder is removed via selective sync, a new folder with the same name is created in that location, and the original folder is later synced back to that spot.

While there is no automatic way to resolve these conflicts, you can compare the original and conflicted folders, consolidate any differing files manually, and then delete the empty conflicted folder.

Since you're having trouble deleting them, have you tried using the desktop app or a different browser to achieve that? Considering that these conflicts also synced to your account online, you can also use our Rewind feature (if you have a paid plan) to return your account to a specific point in time.
