Hello,
I have at least 4 people that have accepted and downloaded DB from my invitations. AFTER they did, DB suddenly marked them as ineligible. I want my space. Please help.
Hi @Queen22, let's see what I can do to help!
I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this. Respond back to me, and we'll take it from there.
Cheers!

The laptop has previously had dropbox as it's a shared device.
That would make it ineligible as each referral must install Dropbox on a unique computer (one never having Dropbox before).

Its inelegibe because of the fact you havent met the requirements of the promotion - which is that it is installed on to a unique computer. As you have uninstalled your own Dropbox and installed theres and then uninstalled again it doesnt meet that requirement. This has been in for a long long time to prevent abuse.
Hey @renatomichel, I just sent you an email.
I'll be happy to look into this with you. Reply back, and we'll take it from there.
Thanks!

Hi there, @Richard36, let's jump right into this!
I'm happy to investigate further. I went ahead and opened a ticket on my end for you.

Thanks a bunch!
Hey @SnailMango!

I would like to request a manual review of three referral bonuses that were marked as ineligible.
The referred accounts are:
All three accounts were created through my Dropbox referral link.
Each account used a different email address and was installed on a different computer.
One of these referrals was completed on a brand-new MacBook that had never used Dropbox before.
For each referral:
Despite completing the referral process correctly, all three referrals were marked as "Ineligible".
Could a Dropbox moderator please review these referrals manually and explain why they were rejected?
The three referred users are currently active Dropbox users and are using shared Dropbox folders for real work purposes.
Thank you very much.

I have removed all emails as if not you will be massivley spammed. It is never a good idea to post emails on a public forum.
In terms of not getting the space my guess is that they are on same network which can trigger spam detection issues. I assume each person installed on to a unique computer (as that is also a requirement)?
I'd suggest logging a ticket at www.dropbox.com/support for help.
Can you copy and paste a screenshot of this page? At the moment, there’s a cap when it comes to the maximum amount of space you can earn through referrals, so I’d like to make sure that’s not the case here.
I would also like to mention that a similar situation happened previously.
In August 2025, Dropbox Support manually reviewed my referrals and confirmed that the system had generated false positives. The referral bonus was then manually applied to my account.
For this reason, I am asking for a manual review of these three new referrals as well.

Hi from me too, Giacomo! Can you confirm what Mark mentioned above regarding all users being connected to the same network? This will help me assist you further and log a new ticket again, if necessary. Besides the email addresses that Mark removed from your original post, I’ve also gone ahead and removed your full name from the forum, since this is a public space indeed and you need to be extra careful when it comes to sharing personal info here. Keep me posted!
Did you have the chance to check out my last post, @sowmyagupta283? Feel free to ping me, if you need more help with your referrals.
Hi again, @giacomofilippini! I’m pinging you again, in case you missed my previous message.
Hello Nancy,
Thank you very much for your reply.
No, the three referred users were not all connected to the same network.
Each referral was completed on a different computer and in different locations. One of them was completed on a brand-new MacBook that had never used Dropbox before.
As I mentioned previously, a similar situation occurred in August 2025, when Dropbox Support manually reviewed my referrals and confirmed they were false positives. The referral bonuses were then manually credited.
For this reason, I kindly ask you to open a new support ticket and have these three referrals manually reviewed by the appropriate team.
Thank you very much for your help and your time.
Best regards,
Giacomo
Hi @giacomofilippini, allow me to jump in here!
I just sent you an email in order for us to investigate further. Reply back to me, and we'll take it from there.
Hi, I have been using Dropbox for 15+ years. I just now referred my wife and set it up on her new laptop. The referral was deemed "ineligible" due to being on the same network I suspect. Please correct the storage space bonus on both our accounts.
Hey there, @JohnODonnell, welcome to our Community!
One of the reasons a referral might appear as ineligible on the Dropbox site is because the user attempted to activate the referral from the same network as yours. That could indeed be the case.
Could you ask your wife to register using a new email and a different device or network?
You can also check this section of Help Center for more info and this FAQ right here. Can you also confirm that they've tried these steps?
This will help me to assist further!
Hi, yes she activated while on the same network. I was not aware that this was an issue until investigating why the bonus was not applied. Requesting a manual update to both our accounts.
Thanks,
John
Thanks for clarifying that for us, John. I've just reached out via email to sort this out so please take a look at your inbox and we'll take it from there.
Hello. Today, I sent a referral invitation to a family member, who is a brand-new user setting up a fairly new computer that has never had my personal Dropbox account installed on it. His account is currently logged into the desktop client on this machine. However, my referral dashboard has marked this invite as 'Ineligible'. I realize now exactly what caused this false positive as I had logged into my own personal Dropbox web account via Chrome on his computer to look up an old 'refer a friend' invitation that had been sent several years ago. While checking that specific legacy invite link on his browser, the desktop app was inadvertently launched. This accidental cross-contamination of my web session history and his new desktop client setup instantly tripped the automated fraud filter. Since this is a completely valid referral for a new household user on a clean machine, could a community moderator or support specialist please look into this case and manually approve our referral space bonus? I would really appreciate it! Thank you for your help in advance.
Hi @bluefish, and thanks for posting on our forum. To clarify, when the desktop app was launched on his computer, was he already logged in to it with his new Dropbox account, or was your own Dropbox account linked instead? Let me know.
Hi. Thank you for your response. When the desktop app was launched, I inadvertently forgot to log out of my Dropbox account (i.e., I had logged in to check the invite I had previously sent and had forgotten to logout afterwards sadly).
Hmm, I see. If the other user goes to www.dropbox.com and opens this page, do they see your device being linked to their Dropbox account at any given point?
Hi. The device listed is my family member's computer, and his new Dropbox account is the only one linked to the desktop client. My personal account has never been logged into the desktop client, however my account was briefly logged into the web browser to check the old invite link. My theory is that I triggered the false-positive self-referral flag in the process unfortunately. Thanks for your help.
