Why are solo users still forced into team plans for more than 4 TB of storage?

Why has Dropbox ignored this request for years?

I work alone but need around 7-8 TB of storage. The only way to get that much space is to use a team plan, even though I do not need a team, admin tools, member management, or a team folder structure.

As a result, Dropbox forces an unnecessary structure on my Mac: a folder with the team name, with my actual files placed inside an additional personal subfolder. I simply want one normal, flat Dropbox folder, like every individual user should have.

Why can’t Dropbox Professional allow multiple paid 1 TB storage add-ons? Customers are clearly willing to pay for the storage. Forcing individual professionals into a team account just because they need more than 3–4 TB is a poor workaround, not a real solution.

This has been requested by users for years. I have also seen long-running forum discussions with many requests for this option disappear or get removed, while the underlying problem remains unresolved.

Please allow Dropbox Professional users to purchase multiple storage add-ons without forcing them into a team structure.

Have a look at Dropbox Standard. They have lowered the number of Team Seat's required to 1, but, still giving the possibility of buying additional blocks of space.

I know about Dropbox Standard with one seat. That is not the point.

It is still a team account and still forces the Team Space folder structure. I do not want a team plan at all. I am a solo user who simply needs more storage.

Dropbox Professional should allow multiple paid storage add-ons without forcing individual users into a team setup.

Ah, sadly, given they are doing this as a compromise I cant see it happening.

I'm on an old grandfathered plan (Essentials) which I love, but, Standard isnt quite the same so also stuck.

Totally agree, shouldn't need a Team Plan for extra storage.

Those are two totally different feature sets and should be priced separately.

They serve entirely different needs. While some organizations share only light files like spreadsheets and images, a single freelancer (like a video editor) can easily require 8TB of storage. As a graphic designer who does occasional video editing, I’d love to see a standalone 8TB storage tier for individuals, rather than forcing solo users into team-tier subscriptions.

This has been raised repeatedly in the community for years, and many solo users seem to have the same issue: they need more storage, but do not need or want a Team Space structure.

It would be great to see an actual solution for this, such as multiple paid storage add-ons for Dropbox Professional, rather than requiring individual users to move to a team plan.
