Hi everyone,
I'm desperate and hoping someone here has experienced something similar.
On 20 June 2026 at around 11:50 PM, I accidentally deleted the Dropbox application from my Mac while I was reorganising my files and making a backup. I then emptied the Trash without realising the consequences.
As a result, my Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders disappeared from both my Mac and my Dropbox account. They contained 11 years of my personal and professional work.
I have already worked with an experienced IT/data recovery professional. Together, we have checked every recovery option available to me:
- Deleted Files
- Events
- Version History
- Dropbox Backup
- My Mac / Computer Backup
- Local recovery options
There is nothing left to restore from my account.
The professional told me that he has seen Dropbox restore an entire account to a previous point in time in similar cases by using internal recovery systems that are not available to users. He has successfully seen this happen for other people.
This is what I'm trying to find out:
Has anyone here ever had Dropbox restore their entire account to a previous date after a catastrophic deletion?
If so:
- How did you manage to reach the right team?
- Was your account Basic, Plus, Professional or Business?
- How did you get your case escalated?
- Is there any way to contact the team that handles these restorations?
I'm not looking for advice about Deleted Files, Events, Version History, SSD recovery or local backups. Those options have already been exhausted with a professional.
I'm specifically looking for someone who has personal experience with Dropbox performing an internal account restoration or who knows how to reach the team that can investigate this.
Thanks, HELP
