I would like to ask about how Dropbox shared links and file metadata work.
I received a shared Dropbox link from another user. When opening the file information, both the upload date and the last modified date show April 1, 2026 at 9:01 AM, and the two timestamps are exactly the same.
However, the sender claims that the shared link itself was originally created in 2024.
I would like to understand whether this is technically possible, and under what circumstances a shared link could remain unchanged while the upload date and modified date appear much newer.
